Interpreting the Data

Thursday 22nd April 2004. The official opening day of the weather station.

The weather station is situated in the grounds of Ribblehead Railway Station on the Settle to Carlisle Railway at an altitude of 310m above sea level

The system includes a data logger which records all the readings and stores them until they are downloaded and stored. The data logger started to record rainfall at Ribblehead on the 21st March 2004.

Rainfall
The daily rainfall is measured from 12 midnight to 11:59:59 pm the following evening.
The accumulated rainfall shows the total rainfall from the last time the data logger was reset. The latest date and time is shown below.

Indoor Temperature
Indoor temperatures apply to temperatures inside the station buildings close to the Exhibition Centre and are given as a sensible reference point between the comfortable quarters which were required to shelter the travellers against the inhospitable weather conditions experienced here during the winter months in particular.
